5 March 2004 Update

As you can see from Kevin Campbell’s photo, taken at the Lagavulin spirit safe, it is with great relief that we can at last announce the despatch of the long-awaited bottles to all our UK mainland and overseas friends. Marjory Orr is also pictured packing and wrapping the precious, unique malt.

The labelling process took place late into Tuesday night and our thanks go to David Barr and his staff at Bruichladdich Distillery Bottling Hall. It was decided that this operation was far too exacting for the hands of the oarsmen and supporters, so the professionals in Bruichladdich at no cost to our fund-raising account completed the task!

Thanks must also go to Clive for his painstaking care in getting the graphics so perfect for the printers. We hope the whole package meets with your approval and that you consider it worth the wait. Watch this space for the provisional details of the next whisky-related fundraising venture – did someone mention Ireland? … or was it Kentucky?

The fundraisers are delighted to announce that the money raised has topped the £25, 000 mark and will be split evenly between the chosen charities. The top bid was £555 and bottle no. 1 will remain on Islay!

A further update will appear shortly with details of the final settlement of funds, the top bids and bidders etc. Don’t go away!

Slainte!
